DCMS CME Meeting, "Health Care Reform" a Success!

On Saturday, December 3, DCMS hosted a CME seminar focusing on Health System Reform. Our quality speakers presented a variety of topics, including Health System Reform in the practitioner's office, and from the Democrat and Republican perspective. They also reviewed Health System Reform and professional liability, the vulnerable population, and the role of organized medicine. We would like to acknowledge PMSLIC, our sponsor and exhibitor. Thanks to all who attended this informative seminar and a special thanks to Program Chair Virginia Hall, MD, for her help in planning this event!

AMA National Service Project
Healthier Life Steps

The AMA National Service Project is "Healthier Life Steps." Encourage your staff, colleagues, patients and the public to take healthier life steps by improving diet and exercise and reducing alcohol consumption and tobacco use. The AMA website has information, handouts and posters. There are several ways you can obtain information:

1. Do a google search for "AMA Healthier Life Steps".
2. Email Healthier.LifeSteps@ama-assn.org for questions and information.
3. Visit the AMA website.

As physicians, let's be examples to our patients by making healthier life choices for ourselves as well.

Planning to Make a Charitable Contribution?

We urge you to consider making tax-free contributions to two very worthwhile charitable programs near and dear to us -- the Scott A. Gunder, MD, DCMS Scholarship Fund and the DCMS Alliance.

The Gunder Fund annually awards a $1,500 scholarship to a 2nd-year medical student at the Penn State College of Medicine. (View our Scholarship page for information on this year’s recipient.) To make an online contribution to the Gunder Fund, go to The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society and designate your gift to the Gunder Scholarship Fund.

The Dauphin County Medical Society Alliance provides a tremendous amount of value in our community and is continually recognized for its public outreach programs. To make a contribution to the Alliance, make your check payable to the DCMS Alliance, note that it is a contribution, and mail it to the DCMS Alliance, 777 E. Park Dr., Harrisburg, PA 17111. Thank you for your generosity!
